Transform Your Organization

Is Your Organization Prepared to 'Be a Friend' ?

Why Abuse Awareness Matters

Domestic Violence: Big Costs for Employers
A national survey by the Corporate Alliance to End Partner Violence revealed that 64% of victims and survivors said relationship abuse affected their ability to work—costing U.S. companies more than $8.3 billion each year.

Educators Witness the Affects of Child Abuse
The impact reaches schools as well. Children who experience or witness abuse often struggle with attendance, behavior, and academic performance, creating long-term challenges for both students and educators.

Elder Abuse is a Public Health Issue

Elder abuse is a critical public health issue. Survivors report higher rates of depression. They often withdraw from social interactions, and many blame themselves, which results in shame and silence and magnifies these effects. They also have higher rates of hospitalization and institutionalization, at an estimated annual cost to our nation’s healthcare system of $5.3 billion. They are three times more likely to die prematurely. (acl.gov)

Deeper Understanding of Police Violence

There is a health effect from being inundated with publicized images and videos of police violence.  Research led by Ali Sewell found that police killings also “spill over” to negatively impact the health of individuals living in impacted neighborhoods and can trigger certain traumas and collective memories, forcing community members to relive the violence.
